As you’ve all been told at least twice a week your whole life, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When it comes to metabolism, this is totally true. According to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center, eating breakfast can increase your resting metabolism by up to 10 percent. So, read below about why this recipe is convenient/fantastic/all you ever hoped or dreamed of and more and make sure you take heed.
I am undeniably a night person. So this new (new to me, anyway) ‘porridge that you don’t have to cook and you eat it cold’ thing is pretty much perfect for ensuring I have something in the fridge to suit my grab-n-go routine in the morning. Trying to leave the house by 8:15am and remember my own name is enough of a challenge, so making adequate time to eat a breakfast worthy of the weetabix adverts is just never going to happen. This has been my first attempt at overnight oats and I just used some stuff I had in the cupboard, I’d definitely recommend the fruit/nuts/seeds combo though to pack it with all that slow release business.
Makes 1 Jar/Bowl/Box
Rolled oats
Milk
Natural Yoghurt
1 tsp honey
Handfull walnuts, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds
You’ll notice that I haven’t included recommended amounts. This is because filling a jar or bowl by sight is way easier than weighing things out and I’m trying to encourage you to join the really quick breakfast making club, just go with it.
- Fill jar quarter of the way up with oats
- Take it to half way with milk
- Reach the three quarter mark with yoghurt
- Top with nuts, seeds and berries
- Drizzle some honey in there
- Mix it all up
- Refridgerate
It took me 10 minutes, its cheaper than buying something on the way to work and its something you can do the night before, always a winner. Give it a try!
Track recommendation for breakfast today is Bamboleo by the Gipsy Kings because if that can’t wake you up, literally nothing will.
