An Ode to Honestly Healthy (and my new juicer)

Finally, I can truly identify as a health freak. This weekend I ventured in to town to purchase my long sought after new favourite toy, the Bio Chef Silent Juicer (Vitality4Life) from Steamer Trading. I won’t harp on about it too long because this isn’t QVC, but I will say that if you’re looking to go over to the dark leafy green juice side, this is the juicer you want. It’s quiet, juices greens well, and locks in all the nutrients. But enough about the juicer, if you want to know a little more you can always get in touch, I’ll be happy to answer your questions. What I really want to tell you about is Honestly Healthy.

My very thoughtful boss recently bought me Honestly Healthy – Eat with your body in mind, the alkaline way by Natasha Corrett and Vicki Edgson. It has both opened and blown my mind, you know the boring few pages at the beginning of recipe books? This one doesn’t have that, it has 38 pages of information on the alkaline approach to eating that will have you glued to it almost as if you were reading a novel. The recipes are fantastic, the whole book is filled with fresh, clean and new ideas presented, designed, and photographed beautifully. If I’ve managed to persuade you to buy it (and you should know they’re not paying me for this, I just genuinely adore everything about them) you’ll be pleased to know it’s available on Amazon. If you just want to test the waters before you buy the book, visit their website, I check in pretty much every day just to look at it, it’s gorgeous.

The lovely people at Honestly Healthy have very kindly given me permission to share with you the recipe I christened my juicer with (a very sacred ritual indeed) so if I still haven’t convinced you that you need to buy their book, try this juice, it just might do the trick.

Green Goddess

2 apples
1 handful of kale
1/2 cucumber
1 handful of watercress

To make the juice, I simply cut the apples and cucumber in to manageable chunks and put everything through my juicer. But Honestly Healthy advise you to blend the ingredients in a Vitamix or high-speed blender until smooth.

Before I go, I want to say an extra thank you to Honestly Healthy for giving me the green light to share their Green Goddess recipe, and remind you once again that it would be a very good idea to keep up with what they’re up to, I see even bigger things ahead!

Your track recommendation for this recipe is Walking on Sunshine because.. you will be if you drink this juice.

Thanks for reading x
