November Favourites

Whether you like it or not, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so if you’re inclined to Scrooge tendencies you might want to look away now as there are one or two festive bits and pieces lurking in amongst my favourite things this month.  We’re days away now from the start of advent and I couldn’t be happier, it’s my favourite time of year! Without further ado, here are all the things I loved in November.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn on Cate in the Kitchen November Favourites

As some of you will know, I went to Bath with my boyfriend at the end of last month. Brighton to Bath on a Friday night is a right long haul of a train journey so I popped into WH Smith’s to get myself a nice book. I picked up Gone Girl on a whim after recalling all the hype that had been surrounding the film and I could not put it down. I literally finished it within three days of getting home after our weekend away then gave it to my Mum who devoured it just as quickly.
I don’t want to spoil anything for those who’ve not read the book/watched the film yet but the twist in the middle is one of the most monumental shockers in the history of plots I’ve ever encountered. You simply must read this book.

Melting Snowman Bath Melt

Melting Snowman

If you’re not big on bath bombs, please don’t give up on Lush entirely until you try a bath melt, it’s a completely different experience. I popped this little guy in the bath and it gently fizzled away leaving the bathwater looking like an idyllic snowstorm and smelling like a country cottage at Christmas. The most divine bath-time experience for the festive period, would 100% recommend to anyone and everyone.

My Christmas logo!

Christmas Logo

As some of you may have noticed, the Cate in the Kitchen logo has been pimped Chrimbo style and I’m pretty damn excited about it. The wonderful Becca Corney designed my original logo for me way back when I was starting out and I approached her last month to see what she thought of revamping it for Christmas. Being the legend she is, she was totally game for it – and the result is something special as far as I’m concerned. All hail Becca!

Judge all you want, I love me some Advocaat – more specifically a nice cold Snowball. For the past couple of weeks it’s been a glorious ritual of mine to pour one out the minute I get home and relax under a blanket of Christmas-ness. Definitely get this stuff in your life if it’s lacking an element of “trashy”.
