Step into Christmas with me | Decorating the tree

Welcome to my new brand series for Christmas! Over the next couple of weeks while I’m off work to go about spreading Christmas cheer, I’ll be posting as frequently as I can to share my festive fun with all of you!

I’m not usually this far behind when it comes to Christmas, so it’s nothing short of baffling that I’ve only just gotten around to decorating the tree – but it’s finally up. We thought about a real tree this year, we really did; but the convenience of the pre-lit beauty (no hoovering needles, no lugging a great big monster back from B&Q and no £40 price tag) that was waiting for us up in the loft outweighed the lure of that lovely pine smell.

We rocked around the Christmas tree to my special Spotify playlist which you can find here..

Everyone has their favourites when it comes to decorations, and they can often be grouped into the following categories:

  • vintage family heirlooms
  • clay creations covered in glitter made with love at nursery schools years ago
  • bargains snapped up in the boxing day sales

Personally, I have two favourites. The first (pictured above) are the cutest little Christmas guys I’ve ever seen and we’ve trimmed the tree with them ever since I can remember – I’m pretty sure they’re off of the 70s.

The second (pictured below) was pilfered from the Brighton Dome Christmas tree one year (my Mum used to work there, it was nothing untoward). I just think he’s absolutely gorgeous, so majestic and wise peering down from the branches – plastic as they may be.

And of course, the star of the show, the Christmas fairy:

What do you guys put on the top of your tree? An angel or fairy, a star, or something else? Let me know in the comments!

If you’ve got your tree up, I would love to see a picture of it. Tweet me or post it to my Facebook page!

Merry Christmas everyone, see you soon for more seasonal shenanigans..
