Tabasco Chocolate Sundae

Of each of my three courses, the dessert was the most difficult to come up with. If I were to ask you to come up with a dessert recipe for Tabasco, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Personally, it was chocolate.

Brownies might have worked but they’re just not a dessert. I considered cheesecake but just wasn’t convinced, ditto melt in the middle puds. The eventual conclusion I arrived at was that I would just have to make a chocolate sauce. Because chilli + chocolate = goodness right?

You can replace pretty much all the ingredients (bar the chocolate sauce, duh) with something that suits your taste 100% BUT I really recommend not skimping on the quality of the ice cream, it’ll make a big difference.

Serves 2

100g dark chocolate
50ml whipping cream
25g butter
1 tbsp Tabasco

2 tbsps caramel (Carnation will do)

handful honey-roasted nuts

4 scoops good quality vanilla ice cream

  1. To make the chocolate sauce, slowly melt the chocolate and cream in a pan then take off the heat and add the butter and Tabasco.
  2. Assemble all ingredients in a bowl (add extras if desired, I feel like this could have done with a cake-y element, brownies maybe..)

OK, I know I said the starter and main were both easy but seriously.. I would leave a monkey to do this unsupervised (if they were hob flame trained… K maybe that wasn’t a perfect analogy..)

Have you ever tried hot sauce with a dessert? Tell me all about it in the comments!

  1. Definitely chocolate. It could be only chocolate! I think a hot, creamy and dark hot chocolate would be great too. Though this does sound divine.
