Today is the day, while you read this I am probably on the road to Cornwall. Yeah, you read that right, I’m being prepared and organised (for once in my life) and scheduling a post in advance.
As I write this, I’m burning a few CDs to play on the journey and I thought it might be fun to share a few of my must-play summer road trip songs with you. Don’t say I never give you anything.
You can look forward to lots of lovely Cornish food posts later this week (keep your eyes peeled on Twitter and Instagram for holiday updates) but for now, I hope you enjoy a trip into my music collection..
Mi Swing Es Tropical by Quantic & Nickodemus
This song is on replay for me at the moment since re-watching Chef recently, it’s definitely one of the best songs on the soundtrack and one of the best songs for the ultimate summer chill session. If you hadn’t heard this before then you’re welcome.
Shark Ridden Waters by Gruff Rhys
When this song came out I was mid-teenage years and I played it and played it and played it to death, and still love it. It’s all gentle and indie and wicked for the car. Get into it.
Me Gustas Tu by Manu Chao
Manu Chao was played to death around the house when I was a kid, particularly when the sun came out, so all his stuff has a big old dose of sentimental value for me. This and Bongo Bong are probably my favourites.
Girl by Jamie XX
This album is so big. If you haven’t heard it, please please make it a priority to do so like ASAP, it’s that good I promise. This isn’t my favourite song off the album but I feel like it’s the most spacey beachy summer one.
Champion Sound by Crystal Fighters
I first heard this song watching Gossip Girl (no judgement, it’s a killer series) and fell in love. I actually get told off if I don’t play this in the car so it’s definitely going on.
There we go, a short but sweet one today to keep you occupied while I’m on the road. Hope you’re all looking forward to awesome weekends!
