WTF is Galentine’s Day?
If you don’t know, I get it, but you do need to reprioritise the information that you’re keeping in your brain. Galentine’s Day is a pre-Valentine’s celebration of your female friends invented by Parks and Recreation‘s Lesley Knope, traditionally celebrated on February 13th – it needed to come early this year because we’re going out tonight to for my 21st birthday and ain’t nobody getting out of bed on Saturday.
Who’d I celebrate with?
My very best friend in the entire world, Jess.
obligatory blast from the past pictures
We’ve been friends for a very long time (I’ve spared you the pictures of us when we’re 13, nobody needs to see those.. ever). She’s the most important lady in my life that doesn’t share my DNA and she’s always, always there. I love her very much and it was awesome to take an entire day to just celebrate being one of the most badass duos in existence.
Presents
A non-obligatory yet very welcome component of Galentine’s Day. The most appropriate gift? Chocolate. Duh. Thanks so much to Lindt for kitting me out with the purrfect gift for Jess, the Master Chocolatier Selection.
Waffles at Gelato Gusto
If you are familiar with Parks and Recreation, you’ll know that Lesley Knope is a serial waffle eater – it’s one of the reasons I love her so very much. It was therefore essential to grab waffles for breakfast as our first stop, and Gelato Gusto did not disappoint. Great soya lattes, perfect waffles, lovely little spot to sit in. Everything is decked out in pastel, the tables aren’t too cramped considering it’s only a tiny joint and it smells delicious all the time. I went for whipped cream and chocolate sauce and it set me back somewhere around the fiver mark, not half bad. I’ll be back for the vegan chocolate brownie ice cream (!!).

Cocktails at Pitcher and Piano
I feel like the Pitcher & Piano is super under rated as a place to get drinks. If you go at the right time, all the cocktails are 2 for 1, meaning you can get waaay superior drinks for the same price as a round at Spoons, in a waaay nicer place. It’s a no brainer. Why do we not come here more often? Pictured from top to bottom: Cosmos, Strawberry and Rhubarb Coolers, Cherry Whisky Sours. We were officially day drunk at this point.

Veggie Burgers at The Trolls Pantry
If you follow me on Twitter then you know that I’m ever so slightly in love with The Trolls Pantry and have been for quite some time – that was without ever having tried their burgers. Now I’ve had one, I think I’d like to look into how one might go about marrying a kitchen. Pictured is The Matango: breaded mushroom, Brighton blue cheese, pickled cabbage, some kind of fancy mayonnaise, it was as good as it both looks and sounds. I’m going back ASAP, and if you haven’t been yet then you just need to drop everything and go.
