You’re getting hit right now with a lot of spring/summer 2016 fashion collections. I know that’s true because I am too. Email after email, banner ad after billboard after sponsored tweet. It’s unstoppable, and I kind of don’t mind it, I am after all a girl with a love of buying new clothes that I don’t really need. However, my love for clothes is by far overshadowed by my love for alcohol. So I think we should talk about what I want to be drinking now that the sun is out, and maybe we’ll chat skirts later on. Probably not though.
The team at ALDI (AKA my new best friends) sent me over a few bottles of spirits to muck about with for their #ALDIFavouriteThings campaign, and this is what happened..
Black Cherry Gin Jelly Shots
I’ve been wanting to make “jello shots” since I was about 11 years old and saw them on whatever terrible American TV show I was watching at the time. 10 years later, here I am, making them for the first time. I’m a real dream chaser, I sure know how to go out and get what I want fast.
1 pack black cherry jelly cubes
1/2 pint boiling water
1/4 pint cold water
1/4 pint Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin
Chuck the jelly cubes into a heatproof jug and fill with the boiling water, stir to dissolve then add the cold water and gin, stir again. Pour into plastic shot glasses or fancy cups if you’re a real grownup (unlikely if you’re making these, soz) then chill for about 4 hours to set.
Fancy Schamncy Amaretto Orange
OK the colour of this could be sexier but whatever, who’s spending more than a milisecond looking at what they have in their hand before they drink it? Not this girl. This is a super fancy “I’m better than you” version of amaretto and orange juice. And it’s delicious.
1 part orange simple syrup
1 part Bellucci Amaretto
frozen cranberries/orange peel to garnish
Chuck your frozen cranberries in a glass if that’s what you’re using instead of ice cubes (it’s what I’m doing at the moment because there’s no ice and it was these or peas) followed by the syrup and the booze then top with soda water.
What are you drinking this month? Can I have some?
