Veggie Festive Bake (Brie, Cranberry, Parsnip and Stuffing)

If you can resist a Greggs festive bake then you’re a better man than I. They’re delicious. I mean it’s just Christmassy beige mush wrapped in flaky pastry, but that is exactly what I’m looking for at this time of year, and they do it so well. We recently discovered that Iceland are now selling frozen festive bakes to cook at home, so I thought it was probably time I tried to make my own version of these things before I gave in to temptation and turned my entire freezer into a Greggs shrine. I didn’t want to make an exact copy of the festive bake though because I’ve very much made it my mission this year to vegetarianise as many Christmas classics as I can. I want to prove that while meat is arguably delicious, it’s not essential for deliciousness – even in December. It’s also super helpful for me to lean towards vegetarianism in December to make Veganuary a little easier next month.. I’ve used brie as the cheesy element here for no …

7 Foodie Christmas Tree Decorations for 2017

Happy Sunday! We’re less than a month away from Christmas now, so I’m allowed to post this (it’s been in drafts for quite some time). You would think that in 2017 – the age of food porn – there would be a tonne of food Christmas decorations to choose from. This is not so. I actually had to trawl the internet for quite some time just to find these ones – and there are only seven on the list. The ones I did manage to find though are absolute gold, and I want every single one of them on my tree for sure. In fact, despite my promise to myself to stop buying stuff, I may actually spring for one. I’m thinking the macaron.. let me know your top pick from this list in the comments! hanging croissant // paperchase // £5.25 champagne bottle bauble // debenhams // £6 pineapple bauble // oliver bonas // £8.50 hanging brussel sprout // tesco // £5 mr and mrs peanut baubles // lisa angel // £15 hot gingerbread …

3 (Vegetarian) Ways with Sprouts

The vegetable that divides the nation come December is finally back in season, and I’m sat firmly in the camp of people that are delighted. I’m fairly sure I despised sprouts as a child, as did most of us. These days, my fridge is never without a bag in the winter. Those of us with a fondness for sprouts are often looking for new ways to prepare them so as to entice those of us who refuse to pile them onto their plate. I wanted to try and do something vegetarian this year, because in previous years I’ve relied solely on bacon to tempt sprout haters and I like a challenge. Whether or not you succeed in convincing the sprout haters in your life that the little green things should be given another chance, I hope you’ll find something in this post that you haven’t tried before. Sprouts with Goats Cheese and Dried Cranberries This never used to be my style, but I’m finding this year that I’m more partial to sprouts that have been …
