Rebel Kitchen Smoothies

You must know by now, but I’ll reiterate just in case. I’m Rebel Kitchen’s blogger of the month, so throughout August I’ve been writing about them and their awesome mylks (you can find those posts here and here). I’m also running a competition to win the whole range on Twitter here! Smoothies are a fast foodie’s best friend, all the recipes below will take you way under five minutes (unless you count clean-up time, those blender blades are a real pain) and they’re exceedingly delicious to boot. I’ve avoided the new-fangled health fanatic ingredients for the following reasons: 1) They can be very difficult to source 2) I’m too lazy to source them. Happy International Picnic Day

June 18th is International Picnic Day! Shake the grass from your blankets and dust off your hampers, it’s time to eat alfresco. Carrot and Orange Zinger 4 small/medium carrots 2 oranges thumb sized piece of ginger As with my previous juice recipes, throw all the ingredients into your juicer after chopping roughly. I recommend pouring it in to a pretty jar …

Popeye Potion

Popeye, the internationally renowned cartoon sailor, had the right idea when it came to greens. Long before superfoods were even a thing, he was chugging away at can after can of iron-rich spinach to make his biceps level up Mario-style. Despite not being a nautical hero on a never ending quest to impress a lady named Olive Oyl, I do need a good dose of iron every day – especially now. Today marks the beginning of my 6 weeks of veganism. You heard me correctly, I am doing the vegan thing. I recently watched Vegucated on Netflix hoping to learn a little more about the wave of veganism that is sweeping the nation, and see how three New Yorkers fared without animal products for six weeks. The facts and figures that made up the argument for the vegan diet ranged from Co2 levels to scientific research into the causes of disease in the modern world and all in all they were pretty convincing. So, even if only for six weeks, I’m going for it all in. …
