Galentine's Day Card

How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day in Brighton

WTF is Galentine’s Day? If you don’t know, I get it, but you do need to reprioritise the information that you’re keeping in your brain. Galentine’s Day is a pre-Valentine’s celebration of your female friends invented by Parks and Recreation‘s Lesley Knope, traditionally celebrated on February 13th – it needed to come early this year because we’re going out tonight to for my 21st birthday and ain’t nobody getting out of bed on Saturday. Who’d I celebrate with? My very best friend in the entire world, Jess. obligatory blast from the past pictures  We’ve been friends for a very long time (I’ve spared you the pictures of us when we’re 13, nobody needs to see those.. ever). She’s the most important lady in my life that doesn’t share my DNA and she’s always, always there. I love her very much and it was awesome to take an entire day to just celebrate being one of the most badass duos in existence. Presents A non-obligatory yet very welcome component of Galentine’s Day. The most appropriate gift? Chocolate. …

Twisted Mango and Lime

If the weather forecast is anything to go by, we don’t have a heatwave ahead of us any time soon. But if you want to coax the sun in to putting his (or her, let’s not be sexist, just because it’s an all powerful star doesn’t mean it’s a man) hat on, getting drunk on mangoes is the way to do it. I spent about half an hour in the spirits aisle at the supermarket recently looking for something new to shake up the drinks cupboard. In the end, I picked up some Oddka. Never heard of it? Nor had I, but it looked pretty and upon first experimentation, tasted pretty great too. I went for Twisted Melon, it’s kind of sickly sweet, reminiscent of Hubba Bubba, but works perfectly with this ice cold cocktail. 1 tin maharajah mangoes in syrup juice of 1 lime 200ml coconut water 150ml twisted melon oddka     Simply put all ingredients in a blender and whizz until smooth, then pour into a glass filled with ice. Easy as …

Carrot and Orange Cleanse Cocktail

It’s a beautiful day here in Brighton, I’d forgotten what colour the sky was! Having had an alcohol free evening last night I was thankfully lacking a hangover this morning, although it being a bank holiday weekend I know some of you may not be so lucky. And so, whether you’re in desperate need of some hair of the dog or you’ve waited til Saturday to indulge in some alcohol, this is the perfect cocktail for you. I bought some carrot juice at the supermarket last week, I tried it and I have to be honest, I did not love it. But there’s no bigger crime than waste and so I had to think of how to finish it up, which thankfully led me to the discovery that it tastes amazing with a few additions.. namely gin. In addition to its taste when prepared correctly, the amount of vitamin A in carrot juice is enough to cure your skin of 50 nights of binge drinking (340% of your recommended daily dose!) check out this page for …
