Vegetarian Sausage and Marmite Casserole

I’ve decided in this – the second week of October – to accept that Autumn is our current reality. Freshly laundered clothes will no longer dry in a matter of hours, beer gardens are cancelled until further notice, darkness reigns on the way too and from work but, most importantly, the le creuset is back on top of the cooker and ready to make me feel better. You’ll have to excuse the potentially poor formatting in this recipe, I’m in between laptops and using the app but wanted to get it out into the world before I forget. It’s a quick, cheap, easily repeatable vegetarian meal – and I know that’s what you come to me for. Serves 4 2 carrots / 4 potatoes / 1 onion / 1 leek / 4-8 vegetarian sausages / 1 litre stock / 2 heaped tbsps plain flour / 1 heaped tsp soft dark brown sugar / 1 heaped tbsp marmite Cook sausages according to pack instructions (I use Quorn frozen, 18 mins at 180) Peel and roughly chop …

Marmite Chocolate Crisps

Have I gone too far this time? I mean yeah, probably. This one is not going to go down as crowd pleasingly as marmite roast potatoes and cheese and marmite pasta, it’s niche AF and you really are going to either love it or hate it. Saltiness? Check. Bitterness? Check. Pure savoury deliciousness? Check. A brand new flavour that’s going to slightly confuse but overall excite your brain? Double check. This is the kind of thing that goes down in history. “Do you remember that time we went to Cate’s and she gave us those crisps that were dipped in marmite chocolate? God damn it, those were bizarrely amazing and addictive”. I feel like some of you are gonna straight up hate me for having the audacity to even suggest that you mix marmite and chocolate. That’s cool, it’s not gonna be for everyone. It is for me though. Oh, boy is it for me. 100g good quality dark chocolate 1 tsp marmite 2 small packets ready salted ridged crisps Put the marmite and chocolate …

Marmite Roast Potatoes

It’s no secret now that I’m a die hard Marmite fan. Cheese and Marmite Pasta is still one of my most popular recipes to date, and one of the only recipes that I return to time and time again when I’m pushed for time and in need of comfort. In fact, it’s the first meal I ever made for Tom – and the first meal he ever made for me. We are Marmite people, through and through, so it was only ever a matter of time before Marmite found it’s way into our biggest autumn/winter ritual: the Sunday roast. These actually weren’t my idea. My friend and fellow Marmite, carb and roast lover, Rhiannon recently said “you have to try drizzling Marmite on your roast potatoes” and blew my tiny mind. How had I never considered this before? Why had I been on this planet for 22 years and never put Marmite and potatoes together? Thank you, Rhiannon, I owe you a debt of eternal gratitude, for you have changed roast dinners forever and opened …
