Overnight Oats

As you’ve all been told at least twice a week your whole life, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When it comes to metabolism, this is totally true. According to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center, eating breakfast can increase your resting metabolism by up to 10 percent. So, read below about why this recipe is convenient/fantastic/all you ever hoped or dreamed of and more and make sure you take heed. I am undeniably a night person. So this new (new to me, anyway) ‘porridge that you don’t have to cook and you eat it cold’ thing is pretty much perfect for ensuring I have something in the fridge to suit my grab-n-go routine in the morning. Trying to leave the house by 8:15am and remember my own name is enough of a challenge, so making adequate time to eat a breakfast worthy of the weetabix adverts is just never going to happen. Countless studies have been made to work out what’s going on in that mug, it contains caffeine which in itself has been proven to increase metabolic rates, and the antioxidant catechin – those two working together appears to be what’s making the magic happen. Introducing Metabolism Boosters Week

If you’re a local, you’ll know that it was the Brighton Marathon this morning (an enormous congratulations to everyone that ran an impressive 10k!) so I thought it a very appropriate day to introduce the theme for the coming week: Metabolism Boosting. For the next week, tap in to my blog to find hints, tips, recipes and solid facts for boosting your metabolism. Tip – Stay Hydrated It’s common knowledge now that if you’re exerting yourself physically, remaining hydrated should be your number one priority (take note marathon runners), but you may not all be aware that even if you’re lying around in bed all day (take note normal Sunday-ers) you should be drinking around 3 litres of water per day. If you want to take a look at the science and evidence backing the metabolism boosting powers of staying hydrated, here is a study. If you just clicked that link and reeled in horror at its wordiness, ABC News has a short and sweet professor quote here. Recipes coming up this this week at …
