If you’re a follower of my Instagram stories (quick plug, they’re great, get ’em by following me on Instagram) then you’ll know that I’ve spent much of November wandering around supermarkets to ogle at their Christmas food. I love that about this time of year, there’s just so much to look at. I like to imagine that there are special festive food task forces that sit around in meetings all year round thinking this stuff up (for the record, I think that would probably be my dream job). In the Morrison’s bakery section this year you’ll find a packet of five stollen cookies for just under a quid. Tom bought them for me, I ate them all, they were excellent. I bet you’ve got all your Christmas gifts wrapped up already too, sent all your cards and planned your December 25th outfit, have you? Well, you won’t be needing this post, this is for us last minute idiots that wish we were you – the mulled wine taste test will land in your inbox tomorrow, it will be of far more use to you. Mince pies are so easy to make quickly if you’re good with pastry, and they make the house smell gorgeous. They’re a wonderful thing to whip up if you know you’ve got someone popping over for a Christmas coffee, so I always keep a couple of jars of mincemeat in at this time of year.
