Happy Sunday

I am so poorly. I haven’t been this ill in months and months and months. I didn’t leave the house this whole weekend apart from to go food shopping yesterday morning. I haven’t even been to the cinema, I’m that lurgy-ish. Thankfully, I have a Thomas, who has stayed in with me all weekend feeding me Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and watching Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and playing me at Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit even though he knows I’ll win by miles. As I write this, he’s gone all the way over to the other side of town to buy me some peach juice because it’s my favourite. I’m feeling very fortunate despite my bad luck in contracting whatever this virus is. Just because I’ve been sofa-ridden this weekend does not mean I don’t have things to show you from this week. We’ve plenty to talk about, as always. Starting with a treat we discovered at The Real Patisserie on Wednesday. We stopped by their Kemptown shop to pick up something for breakfast and found fougasse. A …

August Favourites 2015

This has been the shittiest summer I can remember weather-wise. It’s fine for me, I’m not really a sit-in-the-sun kinda gal, but boy do I feel sorry for all the kids who’ve been on break from school this past couple of months. The only way is up though, I’m so ready to take on everything autumn is about to bring. You can expect lots of warming recipes and the lowdown on some really exciting product launches (the best ones happen in autumn) over the next few months. Anyway, lets talk about what I’ve been loving this month. Don’t forget to tell me what your favourite things about August were in the comments. I didn’t realise I liked green tea until I tried the loose leaf stuff, and now I can’t get enough of it. I don’t like it so much in the morning like a lot of hardcore healthies, but I do love a mug in the evening while I’m getting a bit of work done. I’m currently obsessing over Mango + Bergamot Green Tea off of Whittard (discovered …

Lets talk about sides (baby)

It’s nearing BBQ Season for the braver souls here in the UK, and I’m not about to tell you that chicken wings and burgers are going to boost your metabolism. So to join in the BBQ vibe yet remain in the constraints of this week’s theme, I thought I’d share an exceedingly healthy side dish that you can add to your delicious rack of ribs and know that you’re consuming something of use to your body. Homemade coleslaw This recipe was inspired by the most amazing take away joint ever to exist, Pizzaface. If you’re lucky enough to be a citizen of Brighton, too, you have to try this place. In a nutshell, it’s beyond restaurant quality pizza delivered right to your house. Anyway, they do this great seasonal coleslaw that’s herby and crunchy and delicious so I’ve tried to recreate it, pretty successfully I might add. Coleslaw is notoriously fattening because it contains a few artery clogging ingredients – namely full fat cream, so this recipe calls for 0% yoghurt (the brand I use …
