Bonfire Melt

Bonfire night is kind of a big deal in the UK, across the country we stand in muddy fields to give ourselves neck injuries staring in awe at firework displays, build bonfires and spell our names with sparklers. The most famous (as far as I’m concerned) bonfire night celebrations take place in Lewes every year, so if you’re in the Sussex neck of the woods on the 5th November then you should definitely check that out. Serves 2 2 paninis 100g smoked cheddar, sliced finely or grated 6 rashers smoked streaky bacon, cut into …

The Slow Carb Diet Breakfast

It’s now been replaced with the protein-packed slow carb diet friendly breakfast recipe below. I’ve had to change up my routine (by which I mean stop pressing ‘snooze’ and get out of bed in time to cook) and my appetite is still adjusting to eating this much so soon after waking up, but it keeps me more than satisfied until the clock strikes lunch and it’s contributing to the weight loss that comes with this diet. …

If you want to learn more about why oily fish is the answer to many of life’s woes, Fish is the Dish have some great information resources here.  This week, I’m staying away from home and in typical Cate fashion I forgot to pack my camera. So in the absence of high quality photography, here are three quick recipes I knocked up over the past week and posted to Instagram. Supermodel Salmon Salad – Serves 1 1/2 cucumberfew strips smoked salmon50g fennel juice of half a lemon Peel the cucumber as you usually would, then discard the skin and keep on peelin’ on into a bowl until you hit the impossible to peel centre.
