Sunday Roast at The Geese Pub Brighton

Happy Sunday

I’ve been a little bit out of sorts this week. Exhibit A: today I didn’t eat anything at all until 4pm. Exhibit B: I have not tweeted in 16 hours, and I’ve only tweeted three times in the last two days. I’m alarmed, are you alarmed? Also the home screen button on my iPhone broke. I’m just a hot mess at the moment, bear with me. Apparently, a third of us are eating less meat. This pleases me. Viva la small, slow and steady revolution. It’s nice to go a little deeper sometimes, and these 40 words for emotions you’ve felt but couldn’t explain totally took me there. I talk about This American Life a lot around here, and that’s because I think it genuinely makes me a better person to look into the lives of human beings once a week. This podcast is a gift, and if you’re not already on board, please consider changing that. On repeat this week: baby makin’ music c/o Aluna George. I’ve started a few of my days …

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday

Hello. I’m coming to you today from a state of Sunday deliriousness that is proving to be half enjoyable and half inconvenient, but there’s nothing to do besides roll with it so that’s what I’m doing. I hope you had a gorgeous weekend, mine was delicious. It really technically started on Thursday (early Galentine’s Day) and I took Friday off to have an excellent day doing as close nothing as it’s humanly possible to do then got really, really drunk yet somehow managed to make zero bad decisions. Yesterday I turned 21 and ate a lot of bread, and this morning I’m starting to get my shit together again. Happy Valentine’s Day, by the way. I struggle to listen to music and work at the same time, the lyrics automatically distract me from writing – but I have officially found a workaround. Listening to music in another language isn’t distracting at all, because my brain isn’t attempting to listen to the words. Genius, right? Recommended: Francoise Hardy’s The Vogue Years. Underworld released a new track …

Galentine's Day Card

How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day in Brighton

WTF is Galentine’s Day? If you don’t know, I get it, but you do need to reprioritise the information that you’re keeping in your brain. Galentine’s Day is a pre-Valentine’s celebration of your female friends invented by Parks and Recreation‘s Lesley Knope, traditionally celebrated on February 13th – it needed to come early this year because we’re going out tonight to for my 21st birthday and ain’t nobody getting out of bed on Saturday. Who’d I celebrate with? My very best friend in the entire world, Jess. obligatory blast from the past pictures  We’ve been friends for a very long time (I’ve spared you the pictures of us when we’re 13, nobody needs to see those.. ever). She’s the most important lady in my life that doesn’t share my DNA and she’s always, always there. I love her very much and it was awesome to take an entire day to just celebrate being one of the most badass duos in existence. Presents A non-obligatory yet very welcome component of Galentine’s Day. The most appropriate gift? Chocolate. …
